Tiina Arppe

Senior Research Fellow

I am a sociologist working as a senior researcher affiliated with the department of social research (sociology). My previous research project targeted the conceptual history of passions and affects in French sociology in the 19th and the 20th century (published with Ashgate in 2014: http://www.ashgate.com/isbn/9781409431824). My current research project focuses on the relationship between death and economy in French social theory.  My research orientation is primarily social theory and history of ideas, particularly the French sociology and its history.

Besides research I’ve also translated several French theorists into Finnish, including texts of Derrida, Bataille, Baudrillard, Kristeva, Bourdieu and Ferry.

You’ll find more information about my publications and current research project under the links “Current Research” and “Selected List of Publications”.
