In spring 2012 I gave a lecture course in English on ”The problem of affectivity in French social theory” (master’s degree, sociology), examining some of the most important French 19th and 20th century theories on the relationship between affectivity and sociality (Comte, Durkheim, Bataille, Girard). A special attention was given to the relationship between the regulation of affectivity, violence and sociality as well as to the changes that have occurred in the conceptualization of affectivity during the 19th century.
