Umpio provides researchers with a tool for processing sensitive data

The Umpio service is an answer to researchers’ queries about how to process sensitive personal data. The service was developed and tested on during last year, and the service will be further developed. At the moment, Umpio offers a more efficient and lighter solution for storing sensitive data than a dedicated server.

Where does a researcher from the field of medicine store and make their data openly available?

At the beginning of 2019, University of Helsinki (UH) Data Support together with the Faculty of Medicine conducted a survey of the faculty Principal Investigators about where data is stored during a project and where it is made available after the project. Almost 50 Principal Investigators participated in the survey. More than half of the researchers were affiliated only to University of Helsinki and around a quarter were affiliated both to the University and HUS.

Missä lääketieteen alan tutkija säilyttää ja julkaisee aineistonsa?

Lääketieteellinen tiedekunta (LTDK) ja Helsingin yliopiston Datatuki teki alkuvuonna 2019 LTDK:n vastuullisille tutkijoille kyselyn, jossa selvitettiin aineistojen säilytysratkaisuja tutkimusprojektin aikana ja aineistojen julkaisupaikkoja projektin jälkeen. Kyselyyn vastasi lähes 50 vastuullista tutkijaa, joista yli puolet oli yliopiston puolelta ja noin neljäsosa sekä HUS:n että yliopiston palveluksessa.

Koko päivän kestävässä OpenAIRE-tapahtumassa Helsingissä etsittiin erilaisia tapoja tehdä avoimesta tieteestä – sen linjauksista, palveluista ja muusta – helpommin lähestyttävää. Tutkijan näkökulma ja tutkijan työn tukeminen nousivat päivän pääteemoiksi. Tässä blogiartikkelissa luodaan tiivis katsaus tapahtuman pääsisältöihin.
