Abstract:

I will present a conceptual framework in which to think about questions of scientific representation, and the model-target relationship. I will discuss the prominent accounts of this relationship and their shortcomings, with a particular focus on idealisation. I will present my preferred “DEKI” account of representation, and highlight some payoffs of adopting it.
