Biotransformation-on-chip

Microfluidic in vitro assays for screening of chemicals’ toxicity and adverse effects

The aim of this project is to address the challenges related to chemical toxicity assessment by developing new in vitro assays that allow for monolithic integration of metabolite production and simultaneous screening of their adverse effects on a single microfluidic chip. The integrated microfluidic devices are expected to give a comprehensive view of the chemicals’ and their metabolites’ physiological effects in vitro. The project will specifically emphasize the adverse effects caused by suspected endocrine disruptive chemicals and their phase I metabolites.
