Sudan Finland scholarship programme 1991-1997

Sudan Finland scholarship programme (1991-1997)

Summary

Sudanese foresters have received postgraduate training in Finland, so as to strengthen the national forestry research capability especially for the Blue Nile region. Four doctoral theses (two in tropical silviculture, one inforest economics and another in tree breeding) and two additional M.Sc. theses have been completed by Sudanese members of the Unit. With its members now forming the leadership of forest science in the Sudan, the Unit is especially well prepared to expand its work to support the sustainable use of tropical drylands in other countries, especially in Africa.
