Hi Veronika! What made Finland stand out as your study destination? Why is the University of Helsinki so special?
Finland offers its domestic and foreign students affordable high quality education; therefore I have acquired my first degree here as well. I have heard only positive comments from my friends, who are studying other subjects as well. University of Helsinki has a truly international environment and motivating atmosphere. It regularly reaches the Top 100 in the global university rankings and it is one of the world’s leading universities in the field of multidisciplinary research.

Yes, we are very proud to be ranked in the top 100 out of world’s 16 000 universities. So what has been the best part in your studies so far?
The learning process and amazing university atmosphere are the best. The social life of the university is certainly great too.

The professors are competent and friendly, they always have time for a discussion. The contents of every course represent a combination of basic knowledge about the subject, but also modern trends and innovative patterns of the field.

We think so too, we have a good reputation in teaching. How does University of Helsinki provide you with support, advice and guidance?
Our programme has a great coordinator and a steering committee: their efforts are just incredible. I loved the idea of the orientation week at the beginning of our studies. I am also astonished, how professors, fellow students and tutors have always been very helpful.

A great thing is that there are also the Career Services available for students. They provide students with informational support on work recruitment in Finland.

What are your career plans?
Everybody has ambitious career plans, so do I. I would consider my career start successful being employed as a marketing or business development specialist in one of the leading forestry industry related companies promoting the utilization of co-products from wood processing, post-consumer recovered wood and wood-based fuels. At the moment, I am actively looking for my summer internship in the same field.

We wish you good luck for job hunting! And thank you for the interview. By the way, do you have good advice for applying to University of Helsinki?
