Lets make the university greener!

Last year the University of Helsinki joined a Climate Partnership program and made four Climate Commitments. One of these was to gather a Green Guide, where the students can find all the environmental information they need in one place. The guide has now been published in Flamma intranet!

On top of the Green Guide the University and Climateinfo have an emission saving challenge together called Reduce a ton. You can make your own little climate promises and join the race!

With the challenge we have now reached our first goal, the reduction of 100 000 kgs of carbon dioxide. Thanks to this, the university will be planting a cherry tree at Kumpula Campus. When we reach the second goal, the heads of faculties will plant berry bushes at Viikki Campus as a sign of the University’s commitment to campus gardening. If the last goals will be met, the vice chair of the city Pekka Sauri will cook climate friendly food and the headmaster Jukka Kola will leave his personal car at home!

During the autumn semester there will also be plenty of environmentally themed activities. Stay on top of what’s going on at our Facebook-pages!
