In connection with the CorCoDial research project, we organize a workshop on corpus-based and computational approaches to language variation. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from computational linguistics, dialectology and corpus linguistics who are interested in modelling and analyzing linguistic variation. We welcome contributions from the community on variation in spoken or written language, in particular but not limited to social media.
Date and place
27-28 April 2022, University of Helsinki. We will provide options for remote participation.
Participation is free of charge but registration is compulsory. Please register here until 18 April 2022. Note that the registration deadline for presenting a talk has passed. Attendance-only registration (remote or on-site) is still possible.
This workshop will be followed by the Uncertainty and Grounding in Language and Translation Modelling workshop on 29 April. Registration for both workshops are separate.
Visitors from abroad are advised that the weekend following the workshops is Vappu / May Day weekend, a major event in Finnish student life.
Invited speakers
- Adrien Barbaresi, BBAW Berlin
- Karlien Franco, KU Leuven
- Nikola Ljubešić, IJS Ljubljana
- Barbara Plank, ITU Copenhagen / LMU Munich
- Tanja Samardžić, University of Zurich
We welcome additional contributions from the community, also from early-stage researchers such as PhD students. If you are interested in presenting your research in a short talk, please indicate this on the registration form. The registration deadline for talks has passed.
