Welcome to my homepage!

I am a Professor of Public Economics at the University of Helsinki and the VATT Institute for Economic Research. My research deals with optimal taxation, empirical analysis of tax systems, and taxation and social protection in developing countries.

I am also a Senior Non-Resident Research Fellow at UNU-WIDER, a Fellow of CESIfo and Deputy Director of the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Tax Systems Research, FIT.
