The e-learning support persons at the University of Helsinki form a close-knitted network working together with the Educational Centre for ICT (Opetusteknologiakeskus) -often just abbreviated “OK” – helping out especially in matters relating to the services OK provides. These services are maintained and safe to use with guaranteed support. However, new approaches and out-of-the-box -thinking is of course good in an academic environment, so use of third-party services is also sometimes encouraged as well as experimental services in alpha- or beta testing stage. The important thing is to use the right pedagogical tool for the right job, so it is just not a question of technical support but how the technology can facilitate learning according to the guidelines regarding constructive learning at the University.
