Please note: The organisers will not cover travel costs. We encourage all delegates to find out about funding opportunities provided by their home institutions.

Travelling to Helsinki:

Several airlines fly to the Helsinki Airport (HEL) from destinations all over the world. There are also ferry connections from Stockholm and Tallinn, see Eckerö Line, Tallink Silja, and Viking Line. Ferry terminals are located close to the city centre.

The airport is located within easy access by train/bus/taxi from the city centre. There is a train station located at the airport. Local trains I and P operate to and from the airport. A train ride to Helsinki city centre takes about 30 minutes. Bus route 600 also operates between the airport and the city. The travel time is about 40 minutes. Tickets for both cost 4,10€ and can be purchased on HSL’s mobile app, or at the train/bus station’s ticket machine.

The taxi station is located outside the arrivals hall. It is advisable to use the taxi companies that have an agreement with the airport company Finavia (FixuTaxi, Menevä, Taksi Helsinki). These operate from lanes 1-3. The fares for those taxis are indicated on the taxi station. Flat rates (around 35 €) are available between the airport and the city.

Accommodation:

Both conference venues are located in the centre of Helsinki within 10 minutes walk from each other.

Hotels can be booked by using a hotel booking site, such as Booking.com.

The Scandic and Sokos chains, for example, offer several good options near the venues.

Getting Around:

The centre of Helsinki is compact and it is easy to get around on foot or by using the tram network. The most convenient way to buy tickets is with the HSL mobile app.

Network connections at the University of Helsinki:

The university has two wireless networks: eduroam and HelsinkiUni Guest.  Eduroam can be used by visitors whose own organisation is part of the eduroam network. Other visitors  can use the HelsinkiUni Guest network.
