About the Project

“Time to Get Heard” strives for systematic inclusion of former child protection services users and young adults transitioning to their independent life from different forms of alternative care in the development of the child welfare systems. In the project, the young people, as the best experts by experience on this service system, co-create new avenues to advocate their interests to decision-makers and service providers in order to contribute to more socially and ethically sustainable child welfare services.

In the project, young former service users and care leavers in Russia, Finland and Norway co-create new ways of organizing and new avenues for youth participation to develop services that better respond to their needs in collaboration with local university scholars and NGOs. As a result of this co-creative collaboration, new tools of face-to-face and digital support to better serve them. The new avenues and tools are co-created in transnational co-creative workshops that take place in all three countries in 2022-2023.

The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, with co-funding from the University of Helsinki.
