FAO: National socioeconomic surveys in forestry

fao_forestry_surveyRecently, FAO, CIFOR, IFRI Network and the World Bank LSMS and PROFOR programmes jointly launch the sourcebook ”National socioeconomic surveys in forestry: Guidance and survey modules for measuring the multiple roles of forests in household welfare and livelihoods“. According to PROFOR “this sourcebook is intended to help improve data collection on aspects of forests relating to household welfare and livelihoods. It offers practical guidance and measurement tools that can be included in existing social or socioeconomic surveys undertaken by a country’s national statistical office, or in independent national surveys

VITRI’s researcher Nick Hogarth is one of the authors and his contribution builds on his experiences with the Poverty Environment Network (PEN) by CIFOR. FAO also has a video of the launching event online here
