Project description

In the HYPE project, a combined approach is used to develop a novel integrated concept for hydrolysis and fermentation of lignocellulosic feedstocks.
Lignocellulosic bioethanol has the potential of contributing to a sustainable and secure European energy supply for the transport sector. European research and industry is presently among the forerunners in developing lignocellulosic bioethanol. HYPE is the acronym for “High Efficiency Consolidated Bioprocess Technology for Lignocellulose Ethanol”. EU project HYPE, agreement no. 213139, started in October 2008 to be completed in September 2012. This collaborative action project is funded through the Seventh Framework Programme (Energy Theme).
