Arktinen hysteria – oudot pohjoiset tunteet tutkii tunteita ja tuntemuksia kertomuksissa pohjoisesta ja Suomesta ”Pohjolana” sekä tarkastelee näiden kertomuksien rakentamaa käsitystä suomalaisesta kansanluonteesta.

Arctic hysteria – strange Northern emotions explores emotion effects in narratives of the North and investigates experientiality and cultural mentality created by these narratives. The focus is on negative and ambivalent emotions described in and triggered by imaginaries of the North and the Finnish North in particular, such as melancholia, anxiety, fear and shame, as well as spiritual emotions and feelings of ecstasy generated by the encountering of Northern spaces and places.

Hystérie arctique – étranges émotions nordiques examine l’effet des émotions dans les récits du Nord et étudie l’expérientialité, ainsi que la mentalité culturelle créées par ces récits. L’accent est mis sur les émotions négatives et ambivalentes, telles que décrites et déclenchées par les imaginaires du Nord et du Nord finlandais en particulier. Celles-ci incluent notamment la mélancolie, l’anxiété, la peur et la honte, ainsi que les émotions spirituelles et les sentiments d’extase générés par la rencontre d’espaces nordiques.
