Tutkimukseni käsittelee palkkatyösuhdetta kuulumisen ja arvonannon kenttänä sekä organisaatioiden pirstaloitumisen palkkatyösuhteisiin tuottamia paineita. Väitöstutkimuksessani tutkin näitä ilmiöitä erityisesti valituissa kohteissa, joissa organisaatioiden muutos on ollut erityisen ripeää (Helsinki-Vantaan lentoaseman maapalvelut; postin jakelu ja tuotanto). Hyödynnän työntekijöiden haastatteluja, työnantajien ja ammattiliittojen julkaisuja, sekä uutislähteitä ymmärtääkseni organisaatioiden uudelleenjärjestelyjen vaikutuksia palkkatyön kokemukseen.

My research concerns salaried employment as a relationship bringing together people, groups and organisations, and how this relationship is affected by cost-cutting programs, outsourcing and other restructuring arrangements, and the intensification of work processes. To investigate these issues, I am conducting a study of workers’ experiences of organisational change in the transportation and logistics industries in Finland. For many workers, the workplace has signified an important anchor of identity and social relationships. Using interview data, public documents and news articles, I study the demands placed on workers by cost-cutting and restructuring, as well as the ways in which workers attempt to cope with these demands.
