Finland Swedish Online (FSO) offer courses in Swedish especially intended for a Finnish environment. The courses are available for free on the internet for anyone interested, and only requires an account on the site finlandswedishonline.fi. FSO 1–2 have already been released, and a third course (FSO 3) is currently being developed.
FSO 1 focuses on everyday life in Swedish in Finland. It includes environments such as home and work, as well as a visits to the library, the doctor or a bank. After finishing the course, the language learner can introduce himself/herself, talk about himself/herself and his/her family, and do simple errands encountered in everyday life.
This course doesn’t require any previous knowledge of the language. At the end of the course, the learner has aquired a language corresponding to level A1 as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
FSO 2 continues where FSO 1 left off and further developes the learner’s language skills. The course focuses on thematic units such as everyday life, food, Finnish nature, tourism and the archipelago. At the end of the course the learner is familiar with the essentials of Swedish grammar.
FSO2 corresponds to level A2 as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
FSO 3 should be released early 2022. The course focuses on themes such as travelling, sports and Finland Swedish culture. FSO2 corresponds to level B1 as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
