Two regular seminar series are run by the General Linguistics Unit. Our weekly Research Seminar features presentations by doctoral students as well as by other staff members and guests. In the monthly HALS (Helsinki Diversity Linguistics Group) seminar, local Helsinki linguists and guests give talks on topics related to linguistic diversity. Occasional guest lectures by visiting researchers are organized even outside these seminar series. The staff also represent the field of general linguistics in various public engagement activities to reach out to the general audience.
