About the Researcher

The Principal Investigator of GenParlDip is political scientist, Dr Cherry Miller.

Cherry holds the posts of Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki, Centre for European Studies, Finland (2023-2027) and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Glasgow,  United Kingdom (2023-2026).

Before starting GenParlDip, Cherry worked as a Lecturer in British and Comparative Politics at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom (2022-2023)

She worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Tampere University, Gender Studies (2018-2022) on the European Research Council-Funded project, EUGenDem.

She worked as a Teaching Fellow (2017-2018) at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, after completing her ESRC 1+3 Doctorate in the Department of Politics and International Relations.

Cherry’s doctorate was on the ‘everyday’ reproduction of gender in the UK House of Commons, published by Palgrave Macmillan (2021). The research was awarded the European Consortium for Political Research Joni Lovenduski Prize (2019) for best thesis in Gender and Politics.

Cherry has published widely on three and more research streams. These are:

  • Contemporary developments in parliaments
  • Gendered political organisations and how to conceptualise them
  • Political methodology
