Literature and Emotions

Projekti on Suomen Akatemian rahoittaman (2015–2019) konsortioprojektin osaprojekti. Konsortio The Literary in Life: Exploring the Boundaries between Literature and the Everyday www.uta.fi/ltl/en/plural/projects/ongoing/LILI.html,

Literature and emotions: creating emotion effects and affecting readers

The project Literature and Emotions: Creating Emotion Effects and Affecting Readers analyses Finnish literary prose and poetry by studying how texts create emotional effects and investigating the meanings and functions of these effects. The focus is on both the actual description of emotions and other means used to create affects, emotions and feelings. The research approach is textual and contextual and relies on the concepts of cognitive poetics. The methodological hypothesis is that the interaction between cognitive poetics and other research on emotions provides the ideal instruments to explore the emotional effects of literature.

The project is one of the three subprojects of the Finnish Academy Consortium project The Literary in Life: Exploring the Boundaries between Literature and the Everyday www.uta.fi/ltl/en/plural/projects/ongoing/LILI.html, (2015–2019)
