Professor Anne Alvesalo-Kuusi

Professor Anne Alvesalo-Kuusi has led several research projects over the last 15 years. She has published extensively in the area of corporate crime control and criminal policy. Her areas of interest also include the regulation of work and she has studied the of electronic surveillance at the workplace. She is a scientific advisor in the research project ‘The rise of mental vulnerability in work life’ funded by the Academy of Finland and the project leader of the research project ‘Occupational safety crimes and corporate criminal liability in Finland’ funded by the Finnish Work Environment Fund. She holds a position in the University of Liverpool as a Visiting Honorary Professor in the School of Law and Social Justice. More info…

Heini Kainulainen, Doctor of Laws

Ph.D. Heini Kainulainen has been researching and lecturing in the fields of criminology and the sociology of law since 1998. She has published extensively on penal control in the fields of drugs, violence and criminal process.Her studies are multi-disciplinary and have led to fruitful dialogue between the discourse of legal and social sciences. Liisa Lähteenmäki, Doctor of Social Sciences

Doctor of Social Sciences (sociology) Liisa Lähteenmäki is a post-doctoral researcher specialized in discourse analysis and research on legislative documents. In her dissertation (2013) she analyzed discourses of law-making and media in Finland pertaining to changing conceptions of temporary agency employment. She has also studied ideological discourses and societal power relations from a historical perspective in an Academy of Finland funded research project called The Triumph of Competition: Deregulation and Institutional Change in the Finnish Economy, 1960-2005. Maija Helminen, Doctoral Candidate

Maija Helminen (Master of Administrative Sciences, MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice) is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Law, University of Turku. Her article-based doctoral dissertation examines the roles of civil society organizations (CSO) in criminal justice. A part of her dissertation examines participation of CSOs in to law drafting processes by analyzing Finnish law drafting data in the area of criminal justice. More info…
