The centre of Helsinki has many fine churches representing different styles. Most churches are Lutheran, but Helsinki also has a Catholic church and the largest orthodox church in Western Europe. Visitors can enter the churches to admire the interiors and enjoy the silence throughout the day. Some great examples include Kamppi Chapel of Silence, Temppeliaukio Church (The Rock Church) and of course the Cathedral, which is located right next to our conference venue. Modernism, functionalism and the largest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in Northern Europe make Helsinki a major city of architecture. You can explore the city by hopping on the tram 2 (former 3T), which is regarded as the sightseeing tram in Helsinki, and a way to travel around among the locals.
