Nordic Colonial Archives of Indigenous North America
Organizers: Gunlög Fur, Linnaeus University, and Janne Lahti, University of Helsinki
Zoom workshop, April 20, 2022
This workshop tracks Nordic sources on Indigenous North America. It is interested in textual references (letters, reminiscences, publications, newspaper items, school records, etc), oral sources, objects (museum holdings and other artefacts), and visual items (maps, photographs). It seeks to bring together Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish materials that offer glimpses of cultural, social, and everyday events on Indigenous histories and Indigenous-Nordic encounters. It explores the possibilities to create a Nordic database of these kinds of source materials.
This is a closed workshop for invited researchers. If you want to be invited to the discussion, email gunlog.fur@lnu.se or janne.lahti@helsinki.fi
