Digitization Project of Kindred Languages goes to Helsinki Book Fair, 22-25 Oct 2015

The Helsinki Book Fair is about to begin in a week. The theme country of this year’s event is Russia, thus we wanted to highlight our services related to Russian studies and Uralic languages. Naturally, the Digitization Project of Kindred Languages will be present in this event at the National Library’s stand (6e71). Please, find here a brief summary of our programme at the Book Fair.

National Library of Finland does organize two panel discussions at the Book Fair:

Researchers without Borders panel discussion will begin on Thursday 22 Oct 2015 at 13:00 on the Aino stage. Six scholars from Russia and Finland in humanities does discuss across the theme of cross-national scientific co-operation. Find more information on the panel here (in Finnish).

How to Study Russia in Finland panel discussion has been organized in co-operation with the Russia Team of the Academy of Finland and Idäntutkimus Journal. The discussion will held at the Eino Leino stage on Sunday 25 Oct 2015 at 12:30. Panel explores the possibilities and preconditions of Russian studies in Finland.

In addition to the panel discussions, the National Library of Finland organizes 14 interviews on our stand on four daily themes:

  • Thursday – Scientific Co-operation Across the Borders
  • Friday – Fenno-Ugric Studies and Its Research
  • Saturday – Russian Cultural History
  • Sunday – Preconditions of Russian Studies
