PI is more than thrilled to announce that PhD candidate Ville Virtanen has just began working in the PALIN project! Ville recently graduated from the Department of Geosciences and Geography of the University of Helsinki with an excellent Master’s Thesis that studied the petrography, geochemistry, and geochronology of granitic magmatism in central Finland. His PhD work will focus on partial melting experiments on various wallrocks of mafic intrusions. These experiments will be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Max Schmidt at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. PALIN welcomes Ville on board!

PI:llä on ilo ilmoittaa, että tohtorikoulutettava Ville Virtanen on juuri aloittanut PALIN-projektissa! Ville valmistui hiljattain Helsingin yliopiston Geotieteiden ja maantieteen laitokselta kiitettävällä gradulla, jonka aiheena oli eräiden Keski-Suomen graniittisten kivien teksturaalinen ja kemiallinen luonnehdinta sekä niiden absoluuttinen ajoitus. Keskeisessä asemassa hänen työssään tulevat olemaan mafisten intruusioiden sivukivien osittaiset sulatuskokeet, joita hän matkaa tekemään Zürichiin (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) yhteistyössä Prof. Max Schmidtin kanssa.
