PI is yet again thrilled to announce that PhD candidate Riikka Fred got funding for four years from the Doctoral Programme in Geosciences of the University of Helsinki beginning from January 2018. The subject of her research is “Geochemical modeling of the parental magma for massive type anorthosites and related Ni-Cu ore potential”. One of the central parts in her research will be modeling of the petrogenesis and geochemical evolution of various plutonic rocks (anorthosites and monzodiorites) related to the Finnish 1.64 Ga rapakivi granites by using Magma Chamber Simulator. She will share the room with Ville and join the growing portion of petrologists in our department. PALIN welcomes Riikka to the MCS team!

PI:llä on jälleen ilo ilmoittaa, että tohtorikoulutettava Riikka Fred sai Helsingin yliopiston geotieteiden tohtoriohjelmalta neljän vuoden tutkimusrahoituksen, joka alkoi nyt tammikuussa 2018. Hänen tutkimusaiheensa on “Massiivityypin anortosiittien kantasulan geokemiallinen mallinnus ja Ni-Cu-malmipotentiaali”. Yksi hänen tutkimuksensa keskeisiä osa-alueita on suomalaisiin rapakivigraniitteihin liittyvien syväkivien (anortosiittien ja monzodioriittien) synnyn ja geokemiallisen evoluution mallintaminen Magmakammiosimulaattorilla. Hän jakaa työhuoneen Villen kanssa ja liittyy laitoksemme kasvavaan petrologian alan tutkijakuntaan. PALIN toivottaa Riikan tervetulleeksi MKS-tiimiin!
