Vaihtotunnelmia Toulousesta

Siitä on nyt noin vuosi, kun aloin katsella vaihtokohteita täksi lukuvuodeksi. Vaihtoehtoja oli monia, joten tähän sai hyvin kulumaan aikaa. Vaihtoyliopistoni Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès vaikutti itselleni parhaalta vaihtoehdolta, joten hain ja pääsin tänne, mistä olen super iloinen.

Vaihtoon valmistautuminen alkoi kesällä, kun sain huoneen opiskalija-asuntolasta. Asuntoa varten täytyi koota tarvittavat dokumentit kasaan ja hakea vuokrantakausta, mikä aluksi vaikutti isolta hommalta, mutta hoituikin lopulta ihan kätevästi. Yliopistoni täälä ei vaatinut paljoa valmisteluja, joten tärkeimpänä ennen lähtöä oli hoitaa asuntoasiat kuntoon ja pakata. Ennen lähtöä oli vaikea ymmärtää, että muutan vuodeksi pois Suomesta, ja vielä lentokentällä tuntui kuin olisin lähdossä vain lyhyelle lomamatkalle.

 

Ensimmäinen viikko perillä kului lähinnä kierrellessä kaupunkia, ostellessa kaikkea tarvittavaa kotiin ja tutustuessa uusiin ihmisiin. Tulin tänne melko ajoissa ennen koulun alkua, mikä oli hyvä ratkaisu, sillä ehdin tutustua kaupunkiin ja hankkia mm. puhelinliittymän ja pankkitilin rauhassa.

Yliopiston ensimmäinen viikko taas meni lukujärjestyksen selvittelyyn ja kurssien suunnitteluun. Opinnot täällä eivät ole mitenkään järkyttävän erilaisia verrattuna Suomeen, mutta joitain eroja on helppo huomata esimerkiksi opetustyyleissä, mikä vaihtelee valtavasti eri opettajien välillä.

Olen ollut täällä nyt melkein koko ensimmäisen lukukauden ja olen erittäin tyytyväinen päätökseeni lähteä vaihtoon. Toulouse on kaunis paikka ja siitä on muotoutunut ihana kotikaupunki. Enää ei ole ollenkaan vaikea käsittää, että asun täällä enkä ole vain lomamatkailija.
