La Galette des rois – Kuninkaiden kakku

Viime viikolla Bouffe piti perinteisen La Galette des Rois -illan, jossa päästiin jälleen kerran maistelemaan tätä herkullista ja rapeaa Loppiaisherkkua. Lisäksi perinteeseen kuuluu, että kakkuun on kätketty pieni muovinen maskotti ”La fève”, niinpä sääntöjen mukaan seurueen nuorin pääsee asettumaan pöydän alle, ja sanelemaan kuka saa minkäkin piirakkapalasen. Näin hän ei mitenkään voi itse nähdä, kenet tullaan sitten kruunaamaan kuninkaaksi tai kuningattareksi. Hätätilassa maskotin voi korvata esimerkiksi mantelilla, kuten tänä vuonna tehtiin, sillä maskotti paikannettiin vasta leivonnan loppuvaiheessa.

Tänä vuonna kuningattareksi kruunattiin Frida, joka tietenkin sai kutreillensa asianmukaisen kruunun. Perinteen mukaan juoni jatkuu niin, että kruunun saaneen on määrä tuoda seuraaviin illanistujaisiin asianmukainen galette, joten nyt jännitämme, saapuuko Frida ensi vuonna mukanaan kenties vegaaninen kuninkaiden kakku?

 

Tänä vuonna menimme kuitenkin vielä sieltä, missä aita on matalin, ja leivoimme hallituksen kesken bouffelaisille epävegaanisen kakun. Päätimme jopa jakaa blogiin toimivaksi todetun reseptimme, jotta lukijammekin pääsevät leipomaan kuninkaille, mikäli makean himo yllättää. Kaikkien yllätykseksi leipomiseen ei myöskään varsinaisesti kulunut paljoa aikaa!:

Ainesosat

Marsipaanitäyte kahdelle Galetelle:
  • Tomusokeria kuoren ruskistamiseksi
Valmistus:
  1. Laita uuni lämpenemään 225 asteeseen.
  2. Sulata taikina pakkauksen ohjeen mukaisesti ja voitele vuoka.
  3. Sekoita kaikki marsipaanitäytteen ainekset sähkövatkaimella.
  4. Leikkaa taikinasta kaksi sopivan kokoista ja vuoan muotoista palaa. Aseta toinen niistä leivinpaperille. Levitä leivontasudilla hieman munankeltuaisseosta taikinapalan reunoille.
  5. Levitä puolet täytteestä  vuokaan asetetun taikinalevyn päälle ja aseta toinen taikina kappale sen päälle.
  6.  Painele taikinat sivuista yhteen ja painele hellästi täytteen päältä, jotta se levittyy tasaisesti.
  7. Koristele päällinen varovasti haarukalla. Älä kuitenkaan tee liikaa syviä reikiä kuoreen. Voit myös käyttää veitsen kärkeä koristelussa.
  8. Levitä vielä päälle munankeltuaisseosta.
  9. Paista Galettea ensin 15 minuuttia 225 asteessa uunin keskitasolla ja laske sitten lämpötila 180 asteeseen puoleksi tunniksi.
  10. Ota sitten galette hetkeksi uunista ja pudistele hieman tomusokeria kakun päälle. Paista sitten vielä 5 minuuttia kunnes pinta on kauniin ruskea. Muista toistaa kaikki vaiheet toisen galetten leivonnassa! Alkuperäisen reseptin löydät täältä
