New Identity for FinWiP in 2020

FinWiP has been promoting diversity for many years, but not necessarily only for ‘Finnish Women’, as our name says. Studies show that diversity benefits everyone at the workplace, and that is the message that we wish to stress. From the start of 2020, “Finnish Women in Physics” will become “Diversity in Physics, Finland” or FinDiP.

FinWiP changes gear

During our usual Women in Physics session at Physics Days 2019, we changed leadership. We said goodbye and thank you to Prof. Eija Tanskanen (Aalto/FMI), who led FinWiP for several years. Dr. Milica Todorovic (Aalto) took over as chair, with Dr. Eija M. Tuominen (U. Helsinki) as vice-chair.

We also switch the main communication language to English to better engage with our increasingly diverse scientific community in Finland, and also to collaborate more closely with international societies. Finnish can still be used in posts.
