Monographs in Samoyedic Languages (Nenets and Selkup) are Available at Fenno-Ugrica

The third set of monographs received from The National Library of Russia is now available at Fenno-Ugrica.New arrivals consist of 54 monographs in Nenets and 12 in Selkup. Due to the diffusion and small amount of Selkup speakers, monographs in this language are represented in the low number.In this collection, you may find quite many early ABC- and text books adapted for the Nenets and the Selkup people with the great illustration of the way how new things were taught through the familiar and typical for these people environment and artifacts. Variety of children’s books as translated from Russian as written in the original language is presenting too. In addition to its great variety of the Nenets and Selkup folk tales books, collection gives an opportunity for the folkloristic research.

The other specialty of this collection is the vast availability of the dictionaries. The monographs are represented in both: the old Latin-based and the Cyrillic-based alphabets that can also benefit researchers and their research.
