In May 2016, a “Code of conduct on countering illegal hate speech online” has been agreed between the EU’s Commission and Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube. In 2018, other tech giants such as Instagram, Google+, Snapchat and Dailymotion have announced the intention to join the Code of conduct.

The mission is to prevent and counter the spread of hate speech online.
