Transportation from the airport

Public Transportation

Information on public transportation (trains and buses) between the Helsinki Airport and the city center can be found on the HSL website. Most travelers prefer to take the train. Please note that you need to buy a ticket (regional ticket) from an HSL ticket machine or HSL app before taking the escalator down to the platform. A single regional ticket for the ABC zone is currently 4,10 euros. See the HSL website for ticket prices.

Note: You will need a ticket for the ABC zone to travel from the airport to Helsinki city-center. Within the city-center, a ticket for the AB zone suffices.

How to buy a ticket:

  • HSL-app: the most convenient way to buy tickets is to download the the HSL application on your phone: https://www.hsl.fi/en/app.
  • HSL-machines: you can also buy individual tickets from ticket machines found beside the railway/metro stations or outside tram stops (note: this is not always the case).
  • Shops: you can buy tickets at a slightly higher price from any R Kioski, Alepa or K-Market.
Taxi

If you wish to travel to the city-center by taxi, there is a taxi-station right outside the Arrivals hall of the Helsinki airport. The three taxi companies that have an agreement with the airport company Finavia operate from lane 1-3. The fares for those taxis are predetermined and indicated on the taxi station. Pre-booked taxis are waiting for passengers at the back of the taxi station. For more information, please see the airport-website.
