No Photoshop? Need to fix images? Try free webapps for painting online!

Sumopaint editorIf you need to draw pictures and do some simple photo editing, you might want to try out some free web utilities that run directly from your browser (usually requiring the Adobe Flash Player), and  can load/save files on your computer or some image storage service, depending on which application you try. These are no substitution for a real paint program, but can be helpful creative tools when you are working on a computer without your usual favourite programs installed or don’t have the money for them.

Try these out:

Sumopaint is a new Photoshop-like painting program (with layers support) from Finland which shows a lot of promise, so try it first – it might meet all your needs. It’s fun to just start drawing in it 🙂 No registration required at this stage:

For basic photo editing, try Picnik. Picnik is also integrated with Flickr, and doesn’t require registration either to try it out:

Photoshop Express is Adobe’s official free web version, integrates with Flickr nicely but requires (free)  registration:

Aviary is a promising web painting suite consisting of many art utilities with bird names. Here you will also find vector illustration abilities not found in the other apps. You can try Aviary for free, but more advanced use requires a pay-for subscription:
