Some Exceptional Cases in Dawsonera eBooks

Publisher Pearson have altered the digital rights of their ebooks. As a result, Pearson content will no longer be available to download from Dawsonera.

This will be clearly indicated to users when accessing Pearson ebooks from Dawsonera. The text “ ”Downloads are currently disabled””, indicates that you may only use online version.

Earlier Volumes of Journals in the Fields of Viikki and Kumpula Campuses

The following journals are now available electronically from the first volume:

The archives of over 120 mathematical and statistical journals from Springer have been acquired, among them  Acta Mathematica and  Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis. You can browse all these journal in NELLI. There are 269 Springer journals  in these fields; half of them are now available electronically from the first volume.

In addition of the archives of the journals mentioned above, we have acquired the archive of Nature (1869-).

 

Library opening hours and loan periods in the turn of the year

The approaching turn of the year shortens the library opening hours, but extends the loan period of books.

Due date will be no earlier than January 8th, 2015, when you borrow or renew your loans

  • November 20th onwards for books with a 28-day loan period
  • December 4th onwards for books with a 14-day loan period
  • December 16th onwards for books with a 2-day loan period.

Library locations have exceptional opening hours from Monday December 22nd. We will return to the normal opening hours after Epiphany, Wednesday January 7th, 2015. Check the opening hours on the library website.

    A comprehensive English-French-English dictionary. In addition to general domains, the dictionary covers a wide range of specialist terminology.

InCites – Research Evaluation Tool Acquired!

InCites –  a customized, web-based research evaluation tool from Thomson Reuters has been acquired. It lets academic and government administrators benchmark an organization’s output against peers worldwide.

The research evaluation data concerning our university is still under the process of completing. It is, however, possible for the University of Helsinki users to test  InCites already. You can  create a user ID or use ResearcherID created in WoS to login InCites.

Two other resources connected to research evaluation, Journal Citation Reports – JCR  and Essential Science Indicators ESI are now available in the InCites interface.

Our eBook Collections are Increasing – EBSCO’s Academic Collection Acquired

EBSCO’s Academic Collection which was on trial during the first months of this autumn has been now acquired.

There are more than 130 000 e-books. They are from varying publishers and subject fields. You can not yet find them through HELKA or BookNavigator but you can browse them in EBSCO’s interface.

You can read the books online or download them on your mobile device to read them off-line.  Guidance and hints for downloading can be found in our E-books Guide or in  EBSCO’s Dowloading eBooks Tutorial.
