Tervehdys liikunnan ystävät!

Kirjoittelen tässä elämäni ensimmäistä blogia UniSportin kanssa aloitetun yhteistyön kunniaksi. Kevät tekee hitaasti tuloaan ja luistimetkin pitää kaivaa takaisin kaapista kuukauden tauon jälkeen. Takana on unohtumattomat koti MM-kisat Helsingissä, jonka jälkeen on ollut varsin ”palauttava” ylimenokausi työn merkeissä. Pääsiäisenä tuli tahkottua päivystyksiä oikein urakalla, ja koko huhtikuussa taisi tulla työtunteja kaikkiaan 250. Loppuviikosta olisi ohjelmassa maajoukkueleiri Vierumäellä valmentajaguru Mishinin opeissa. Tämän jälkeen paluu takaisin kotiin Oberstdorfiin, jossa työt ja treenit jatkuvat normaaliin tapaan.

Mutta nyt itse asiaan, eli lupasin kirjoitella hiukan UniSportin kanssa aloitetusta yhteistyöstä. Pari kuukautta sitten minulla oli ilo saada viestiä UniSportilta, että minut oli valittu mukaan Team Unisportiin muutaman muun opiskelevan huippu-urheilijan kanssa. Yhteistyöllä on suuri vaikutus harjoitteluni mahdollistamiseksi. Nykyisen taloudellisen tilanteen takia sponsorien saaminen ei ole kenellekään itsestäänselvyys, mistä syystä iloitsen todella UniSportin kanssa aloitetusta yhteistyöstä. Tätä kautta minulle tarjoutuu myös mahdollisuus päästä jakamaan kokemuksia ja neuvoja muille urheileville opiskelijoille opiskelun ja urheilun yhdistämisestä. Itselläni opiskeluissa suurin etappi on jo takanapäin, kun valmistuin lääketieteen lisensiaatiksi reilu vuosi sitten. Normaalin kuuden vuoden sijaan tarvitsin seitsemän ja puoli vuotta valmistumiseen. Näistä kolme lukukautta sujui Saksassa vaihdossa. Oman kokemukseni perusteella yliopiston opetushenkilöt ovat keskimäärin varsin joustavia liittyen urheilun tuomiin opiskelun haasteisiin – Totta kai poikkeuksiakin löytyy. Lähtökohtaisesti kuitenkin ymmärrystä ja joustavuutta löytyy niin kauan, kun hoitaa oman tonttinsa tyylikkäästi ja on ystävällinen ja asiallinen. Tällä hetkellä viimeistelen väitöskirjaa lastenkirurgialla HY:n tohtorikoulutettavana. Väitöskirjan tekeminen on ihanteellinen yhdistelmä urheilun kanssa, koska suurin osa työstä on itsenäistä hommaa koneen ääressä, joten se onnistuu hyvin myös ulkomailla. Suosittelen!!

Nyt on tosiaan urheilun osalta pieni breikki takana ja akut ovat ainakin puolilleen ladattu. Kun kesä tulee, niin eiköhän ne siitä sitten vielä täyteen lataudu. Luvassa on urani tärkein kesäharjoittelukausi, koska syksyllä on luvassa olympiakarsinnat kotikaupungissa Oberstdorfissa. Luultavimmin kyseessä on viimeinen mahdollisuuteni olympialaisiin, joten nyt laitetaan kaikki likoon ja otetaan miehestä tosissaan mittaa. Eipähän jää mitään jossiteltavaa sitten. Eli tavoitteet on asetettu ensisijaisesti olympiakarsintoihin ja maapaikan lunastamiseen. Sen jälkeen luvassa on jälleen pitkä kausi sisältäen EM ja MM- kisat ja siis totta kai olympialaiset!!
