Markus Ojala
DSocSc, Postdoctoral researcher

I work at the Centre for European Studies, University of Helsinki, in a research project Between Law and Politics: Rethinking the Intellectual Foundations of the European Economic Constitution, led by Timo Miettinen. In the project, I analyse how narratives of the euro crisis inform recent proposals and public debate on reforming the Economic and Monetary Union.

My disciplinary background is in media and communication studies. I have a long-time interest in the role of media and publicity in European politics and global political economy. My publications cover issues related to global journalism, the Ukraine conflict, the Eurozone crisis and the European public sphere. My doctoral study “The Making of a Global Elite: Global Economy and the Davos Man in the Financial Times 2001–2011” examines the public communication between global business and policy-making elites.
