I am Professor in the Study of Religion at the Department of Cultures, University of Helsinki. I joined UH in January 2019. Previously I was Reader in Sociology at University College London (2007–2018), and remain an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at UCL. I have also held postdoc positions at the University of Amsterdam and University of Helsinki, and visiting fellowships/professorships at University of California, Santa Barbara, University of Uppsala, Sweden, University of Aarhus, Denmark, and University of Perugia, Italy.
I am the Editor in Chief of Sociology of Religion (2023–) and President (2020–) of the Finnish Society for the Study of Religion.
