Project is led by the group of principal investigators (in the picture from left to right): PhD Janne Pietarinen, PhD Auli Toom, PhD Tiina Soini and PhD Kirsi Pyhältö.
The main questions of the group members’ earlier studies have clustered around the themes of pre-service and in-service teachers’ collaborative and active learning (Pyhältö, 2003; Soini, 1999; Sormunen & Pietarinen, 2006), teachers’ action strategies and occupational well-being (Meriläinen & Pietarinen 2007; Soini, Pyhältö & Pietarinen, 2010) and professional agency in the context of educational changes (Pyhältö Pietarinen & Soini, 2010). Dr. Toom has done multifaceted research on teacher’s tacit pedagogical knowing and teacher knowledge (Toom, 2006), teacher reflection (Husu, Toom & Patrikainen, 2007; 2008; 2009; 2010) and teacher education (Toom et al., 2010; Kallioniemi, Toom, Ubani & Linnansaari, 2010).
