Katriina Huttunen is a grant researcher/PhD researcher at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Social Sciences. She has a master’s degree from the University of Helsinki (2018), where she majored in development studies . She is interested in postcolonial theories and their significance in the Nordic context, workings and complexities of power relations on a micro level, and of questions related to processes of depolitization and normalization of ’development’ and structural inequalities. She joined the project ‘Socialities of a Vaccine Trial: Bacteria, Tourists , Local Communities, and Scientists in Benin’ in 2017 as a research assistant and is currently a grant/PhD researcher in the project. In her research project, she is interested in the ’micro-politics’ of the vaccine trial and combines perspectives from the sociology of development, medical trials and tourism.
