The closing event of the Nordic-Russian Boreal Forest Biodiversity Education Network (SIU) will take place in Lammi Biological Station of University of Helsinki, in Häme, Finland on 24 – 27 May 2015. Dead Wood Meeting is a student and researcher symposium with invited lectures by the gurus, and a number of flashlight talks and poster presentations by students.
The goal of this meeting is to create an environment for student communication and to close the gap between the university lectures and the real-life of a researcher and a conservationist. We plan to cover a broad range of topics, such as biodiversity in dead wood in boreal and temperate environments, biodiversity conservation and restoration, molecular community ecology and metagenomics, biodiversity informatics, and of course all kinds of lignicolous organisms – and an excursion.
