It’s a long time since I studied languages and in those days there was hardly any talking done

As an adult you have many strengths as a language learner: you have experiences to talk about and have learnt many problem-solving skills in life. You have learnt how to help and to ask for help – don’t hesitate to do the same when learning languages. You have learnt to look for alternative ways and this may be useful when coping with language problems too. You also know that it’s not worth comparing your performance with others. It’s better to set realistic goals based on your own strengths and weaknesses and stick to them firmly.
