Library Website Is Evolving

Helsinki University Library is launching a new website at the beginning of the fall semester 2012. Beta version is released on Thursday the 30th of August 2012.

At the heart of the new site is an easy-to-use search functionality for the customer to search for books, journals and articles. The material in the library catalogue HELKA as well as Nelli search portal plus the content of HELDA Digital Archive are indexed in the search.

In addition, customer can browse the relevant databases in his/her discipline. When a database of interest is found, the customer can continue the search in the appropriate database.

The familiar HELKA and Nelli user interfaces can also be selected if they feel more comfortable to use.

Information on library services, previously scattered round the campus library webpages, are updated and organized to a single site. Meilahti Campus Library Terkko’s site traffic is transferred to TerkkoNavigator – a brand new information management tool serving the customers in the medical and health sciences.

The services of the new Main Library, opening on Monday the 3rd of September, can be found on the new site. You can download a map to help you to find your way around in the library.

If you do not immediately find what you are looking on the new, evolving website, you can still visit the familiar old site of the library. Please note however that the content of the old site is no longer updated in September 2012.

Feedback on the reform of the site is very welcome. Please send e-mail to library [at] helsinki.fi.

The library’s Digital Services continue to develop the site based on customer feedback.

Nelli is Slow

Nelli is working slow. The situation is same in all the University libraries in Finland. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the problem will be solved as soon as possible.
