Welcome to the opening of Guidance Corner, University students and staff!
During the opening week you can experience and get to know activities organized at Guidance Corner throughout the year. You can update your CV and job application, join an exercise session, try on a virtual reality headset, check how much you know about our University or Moodle, discuss open science, take a selfie or write your greetings to the parliamentary elections on the Student Union’s photo wall.
There’s also a chance to express your thoughts and opinions on what your dream Guidance Corner would look like in the future!
This year’s Tutor Adventure is organised on Thursday April 4th, at 1 pm – 8 pm, on the City Centre campus. Almost all of the university’s 700 tutors participate in the Adventure.
The Tutor Adventure of HYY and UH Student Services consists of touring checkpoints in teams to learn tutoring skills and receive information about the services and activities of the University, the Student Union and other interest groups. Three of the checkpoints are located in the Main Library at the Kaisa House (on the 3rd, 5th and 7th floor).
Please notice, that the Tutor Adventure may cause a little extra noise in the library.
A couple of events are being held on the 2nd floor of the Campus Library (UbiKampus) in March:
On Friday March 15 a Hackathon will take over the Ubikampus for the entire day, and
On Friday March 22 there will be a Catalysts Coding Contest at 14.30-21.
The Library is now asking your feedback about organizing events: what kind of events you find suitable for the Library’s 2nd floor? At which times and on which areas of the Library would you prefer the events to be held?
Researcher, lecturer or student: You are welcome to meet our experts whether you just want to discuss matters concerning Open Access or get more detailed advice.
Want to get yourself an ORCID id and link it with your TUHAT profile? Aiming to publish your research or thesis open access? Wish to hear more about discounts on APCs library has negotiated? Or is it about the data: Do you hope to manage your data / write a Research Data Management Plan?
Come and challenge us & explore the possibilities!
Event: Open Science afternoon (in Finnish)
Location: Think Corner, Stage (Yliopistonkatu 4)
Time: Oct 23, 2017 at 1 pm – 2.30 pm
How does open access publishing, open learning materials and open data affect researchers’ work? Will open science change research and publishing fundamentally? How does the future look for science publishing and open research?
University lecturer Mirkka Lappalainen, Research Administration Specialist (UH) Eeva Nyrövaara, Professor Markku Löytönen and Gaudeamus publishing director Leena Kaakinen will take the stage and discuss about these and plenty of more questions.
Helsinki University Library will also reward an open science promoter. So show up and get inspired!
