Olen purjehtija Tuula Tenkanen ja luokkani on laser radial. On huippua päästä tekemään yhteistyötä UniSportin kanssa. Treenaan paljon Otahallilla ja siellä on aina kiva ilmapiiri.

Mielestäni urheilussa parasta on itsensä haastaminen, liikkuminen ulkona ja uusien asioiden oivaltaminen. Minut saa lisäksi treenaamaan halu löytää omat rajani. Sen lisäksi uusien lajien kokeilu on aina hauskaa. Purjehdukseen kuuluu olennaisena osana myös fysiikkaharjoittelu. Fysiikkatreenissä kivaa on, että sitä voi tehdä niin monella eri tapaa. Vaihtelu virkistää!

Pitkän tähtäimen tavoitteenani on olla mitaleilla Tokion olympialaisissa vuonna 2020. Vaikka tavoitteet urheilussa on korkealla, pyrin kuitenkin samalla viemään myös biotekniikan opintojani eteenpäin. Opiskelutahtini ei aina päätä huimaa ja Rioa edeltävänä vuonna en opiskellut lainkaan, mutta pikkuhiljaa ne etenevät ja tärkeimpien kilpailujen jälkeen on aina mahdollisuus opiskella hieman reippaammin.

Haastavinta urheilun ja opiskelun yhdistämisessä on reissupäivien määrä. Kun leiri- ja kisapäiviä on vuodessa hieman vuodesta riippuen 120-200, aiheuttaa se tietenkin hieman haasteita. Onneksi monia asioita voi opiskella myös itsenäisesti. Lisäksi kotona ollessa yritän opiskella mahdollisimman ahkerasti. Hyvää suunnittelua opiskelun ja urheilun yhdistäminen tietenkin vaatii ja välillä on hyvä ymmärtää myös priorisoida. Ihan kaikkea ei tarvitse saada tehtyä samaan aikaan.
