SIF-Community mailing list

Welcome to the SIF-community mailing list!

This list is intended for people interested in the measurement, modeling, interpretation and broad applicability of solar-induced fluorescence, from the molecular to the planetary scale. Whether you are a plant scientist wondering whether your molecular/leaf level research can be scaled up, or a land surface modeller interested in assimilating satellite SIF data this list is for you. Welcome!

The list can be used to:

  • Advertise and share recent SIF-related articles, books,… (if you do so, you might want to add  a couple of sentences describing the highlights of your paper)
  • Announce SIF-related job adds, workshops, conferences, campaigns, datasets, summer schools,…
  • Ask general and specific SIF-related questions (BUT: please consider initiating a separate thread with the key people if discussions get too technical).

We hope you enjoy it!

To post in the list you need to be send a message to: sif-community@email.ornl.gov

Your message will be automatically directed to everyone subscribed to the list. At the present, messages do not pass through a moderator before publication, and we hope we can keep it this way.

  • subscribe: The command keyword to indicate a subscription request to this mailing list.
  • [password]: Optional. Your password is needed to make future configuration changes to your subscription to the mailing list. If you omit the password in this initial subscribe request, one will be generated for you. You may be periodically reminded of your password. If you choose to provide a password in the subscription request, replace [password] with a password phrase of your choice.
  • [digest|nodigest]: Optional. Choose either nodigest or digest. With the digest option, you will receive one message bundle per day, with all individual messages in a day combined together.
    • [address=<address>]: Optional. If you wish to subscribe an email address that is different from the email address you sent this request from, you may specify address=<address>, with <address> replaced with the email address you want to subscribe with. You can ignore this option if you want to subscribe with the email address you sent this request from.

Note: characters “[”, “]”,“|”, “<”, “>” should not be included in your text. Below is an example request text to subscribe to the SIF-Community mailing list with email address someone@example.com and set 1234abcd as password:

subscribe 1234abcd address=someone@example.com

3) Unsubscribe from the SIF-Community mailing list

Send a message to sif-community-request@email.ornl.gov with:

  1. Email subject of your own choice
  2. The text in the line below in the email body
unsubscribe [password] [address=<address>]
  • unsubscribe: The command keyword to indicate a unsubscribe request to this mailing list.
    • [address=<address>]: Optional. If you wish to unsubscribe an email address that is different from the email address you sent this request from, you may specify address=<address>, with <address> replaced with the email address you want to unsubscribe. You can ignore this option if you want to unsubscribe with the email address you sent this request from.
    • [password]: Optional. If a correct password is given, you will be removed from the mailing list without any further step. But if the password is not given or is incorrect, after the mailing list receives your unsubscribe request, it will send you an email with an instruction for you to confirm that you really want to unsubscribe (an example is shown below).
  • Confirm to unsubscribe (an example)

If the password is not given, you will receive an email like the one shown in the screenshot above. Note please ignore the instruction listed in the red boxes and follow the instruction listed in the green box. The reason is that simply replying to that email will place the COMMAND (i.e., confirm xxxxxxx) in the email subject, which will NOT be recognized by the mailing list. Following instruction shown in the green box, the COMMAND (i.e., confirm xxxxxxx) will be placed in the email body, which will be recognized.

Once your confirmation email is received, the server will remove you from the mailing list.
