Juha Lavapuro is Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Tampere. He works as an expert in the Finnish team of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency’s multidisciplinary research network  FRANET. He is a member of the Finnish League for Human Rights, Finnish Association of Constitutional Law, and a deputy member of the National Discrimination Tribunal of Finland. He is currently primary investigator of a Finnish Academy funded research project which analyzes the effects of surveillance related jurisprudence of the ECtHR on the Finnish legislation. His main areas of research and expertise include Finnish constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory, and international human rights law.
