Chin-Chin Wong

Chin-Chin Wong (Chinny) is a doctoral student in the Doctoral Programme School, Education, Society, and Culture in the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki, Finland. She also works as part of the Playful Learning Center research lab at the university and engages in two research projects: “ECHOing: Enriching Children’s Ecological Imagination” funded by the KONE foundation and “MOI: The Joy of Learning Multiliteracies” research and development program funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture Finland. Her doctoral thesis focuses on researching and developing a novel pedagogy, which aims to promote children’s ecoliteracy through integrating multiliteracies pedagogy and design thinking approaches. Chinny holds a Master’s degree from the Department of Design at Aalto University (MA in Creative Sustainability, 2018) and received her Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (BA in Design, 2012). In the past, she worked as a toy designer, as well as a start-up entrepreneur promoting playful learning in primary schools in Hong Kong. With nearly 10 years of experience designing pedagogical materials, Chinny is dedicated to promoting young children’s learning about global sustainability issues through research and design. Her research interests include playful learning, multiliteracies, environmental education, design thinking, collaborative creativity and participatory methods. Within the faculty, her research works include ethnographic studies and collaborative publications, as well as organizing co-creation workshops and seminars, producing and promoting pedagogical materials to local communities.
