FIN-GEO education network receives MinEdu funding // FIN-GEO -koulutusverkostolle OKM:n merkittävä rahoitus

The FIN-GEO education network received a significant amount of targeted funding from the Ministry of Education autumn call 2020 for the years 2021-2023.

FIN-GEO is a network that was formed in early 2020 in order to discuss the geoscience-related research and education profiles of five Finnish universities: Universities of Helsinki, Turku, and Oulu, Åbo Akademi, and Aalto University.

In October 2020 the FIN-GEO education network applied for Ministry of Education funding in order to set up the network collaboration in the coming three-year time period (2021-2023). In December 2020, MinEdu granted 494 700 € to fund the project, which will launch in early 2021. The UH geo-programmes will coordinate the project and act as advisory boards representing the UH geosciences community.

The funding represents a significant step in Finnish collaboration of geoscience education and will provide participant educators a platform to exchange ideas, materials, and tools and establish the structural and technological interfaces for further network activities.

FIN-GEO -koulutusyhteistyöverkosto sai merkittävän opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoituksen vuosille 2021-2023.

FIN-GEO on verkosto, joka perustettiin vuoden 2020 alussa viiden suomalaisen yliopiston: Helsingin, Turun ja Oulun yliopistojen, Åbo Akademin ja Aalto-yliopiston geotieteiden koulutusta antavien yksiköiden välille.

Lokakuussa 2020 FIN-GEO -koulutusverkosto haki opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön erityisavustusta verkostoyhteistyön aloittamiseksi tulevalla kolmivuotiskaudella (2021-2023). Joulukuussa 2020 MinEdu myönsi 494 700 €:n rahoituksen vuoden 2021 alussa käynnistyvän hankkeen aloittamiseen. HY:n geo-ohjelmat koordinoivat hanketta ja edustavat verkostossa Helsingin yliopiston geotiedeyhteisöä.

Rahoitus on merkittävä askel kotimaisen geotieteellisen koulutuksen yhteistyössä. Hanke tarjoaa jäsenilleen väylän koulutusideoiden, -materiaalien ja -työkalujen jakamiseen sekä mahdollistaa rakenteelliset ja tekniset rajapinnat verkoston jatkotoimintaa varten.
