Geo degree programme August board meeting // Geo-koulutusohjelmien elokuun johtoryhmäkokous

The geoscience degree programme boards kicked off the autumn semester in their joint meeting on Friday, 20 August. Preparations for the busy autumn of teaching are well underway in both degree programmes and also long-term planning is taking slow and steady steps towards better solutions for geoscience teaching in the future.

The new SISU system that was taken into use in June is proving to be a bit of a challenge but the programmes are planning to offer further support especially for students transitioning from the BSc programme to their master’s studies. Also the covid situation is still looming in the background of everything but the programmes’ teachers can’t wait to get back to some more contact teaching with the new and returning students.

The next meeting of the boards will be held on Friday, 17 September.

Geotieteiden koulutusohjelmien johtoryhmät avasivat lukuvuoden syyslukukauden ensimmäisessä kokouksessaan perjantaina 20.8. Opetusvalmistelut kiireistä syksyä varten ovat täydessä vauhdissa ja myös pidemmän aikavälin suunnittelussa otetaan hitaita mutta varmoja askelia kohti parempaa geotieteiden opetusta.

Alkuvuonna käyttöön otettu SISU-järjestelmä aiheuttaa vielä jonkin verran hankaluuksia mutta geo-ohjelmat tarjoavat tässäkin lisätukea opintojen suunnitteluun erityisesti maisteriohjelmaan siirtyville opiskelijoille. Covid-tilannekaan ei vielä hellitä otettaan, mutta koulutusohjelmien opettajat odottavat syyslukukaudelle suunniteltua lähiopetuksen vähittäistä lisäämistä jo varmasti yhtä innoissaan kuin opiskelijatkin.
